On the 25th of September, UNICORNS IN TECH held their second ever get-together and had a great turnout. The event was hosted by the lovely Wooga, a software company in the heart of Berlin.
After a Star Wars inspired opening the initiator of the UNICORNS IN TECH network Stuart Cameron explained the idea of the first tech-network for gay, lesbian and straight people. He declared the importance of creating a strong yet fun network, to always be oneself and how UNICORNS IN TECH was about speaking up your mind and becoming an active part of it. Jeannette from change.org talked about “Scaling social good through technology”. Timo from Wooga explained in a very entertaining way how the company filters ideas to produce outstanding products that sky-rocket the app market. In the speed-networking session attendees got their chance to become active. By giving all participants the guideline of talking about “Tell me what you have surprisingly encountered within the last year” the UNICORNS IN TECH team avoided awkward silence. In the end Wooga dished up snacks and drinks and all attendees got the chance to continue conversations and make new acquaintances.
One participant states: “I was so tired and about to skip the Get-Together. Now I am so happy I did show up and meet all these great people. A lot of fun!” Jeannette from change.org was surprised and fascinated by all the questions she got asked after her speech: “I didn’t expect so much interest from the audience. I am thankful that I got to be a speaker at the event.” Exactly the response we wanted!
Thank you to all who participated and thank you to Wooga for their welcoming hospitality. See you next time!
